When new doors open in life, are we the same before we step through as we are after? What happens when we hold on to old ideas of who we are? This is a familiar human challenge, growing up, becoming a parent, or beginning a journey of self-discovery. Like a garden being cleared for new growth, we are often asked to release outdated views so something new can emerge. What happens when this invitation is extended not only to us as individuals, but to society as a whole?Ketamine-assisted therapy, also known as medicine-assisted therapy, has emerged over the past decade as a new approach for treatment-resistant depression. Since August, it has been approved for use within Norway’s public healthcare system.
Research and personal accounts continue to grow, yet this field remains in its infancy. How do we meet this therapy, and how might it evolve over the next 10 to 15 years?
In this gathering, we will explore the history of ketamine as a medicine, its place in mental health treatment, and the perspectives through which we understand this form of healing, resting on the threshold between psychiatry, psychology, and psychedelic-assisted therapy. Together, we’ll reflect on how we view medicine, mental health, and the wisdom of indigenous traditions in our modern world.
Ketamine’s unique past, as an anesthetic, a recreational drug, and now a therapeutic tool, evokes both uncertainty and possibility. While it may be absorbed into familiar frameworks (biomedical, psychological, or spiritual), might there be space for something beyond them? Can this therapy invite a shift in how we relate to mind, soul, and healing itself?
We will gather as 20 curious and open individuals to explore mental health and the changing times we live in. Bring your questions and curiosity, and join us for a meaningful conversation.
Host
Ciarán (Keer-awn) is a medical doctor with a background in psychiatry, trained in Celtic shamanism, EMDR, and energy therapy. Inspired by Carl Jung, world mythology, and existential philosophy, his work invites people to reconnect with the deeper intelligence of the soul, the part of us often dismissed in modern life, yet longing to come home.
