You love your horse. But there are moments...maybe on the lead line, maybe at the trailer, situations when he just won't settle. It knocks your confidence and steals joy from something that's supposed to be your escape!
Imagine simply catching your horse in the pasture (without requiring a pocket full of treats) walking quietly to the tack area (without getting run up on or dragged around for mouthfuls of grass), readily stepping into the trailer (no drama, bribery, or fear)...those skills always start on the ground.
JW Horsemanship & Services is launching its first-ever clinic series at our new Brenham TX facility, teaching the foundational skills needed for every horse-related journey.
Over six Saturday mornings, trainer Joe Washburn shares his nearly 20 years of teaching fundamental ground skills to a small group of horse/rider pairs. Joe will work with you and your horse to build the kind of foundation that can change your relationship with your horse and any horse you work with.
Don't have a horse or transportation right now? We have a few horses available to rent for a small fee, and promise these skills will make you a more capable handler of any horse.

We will be in shady areas on the property and be done before the hottest part of the day.

Current Negative Coggins is required before the day of the session you attend.
Spots are limited to keep the work personal and effective.
We welcome horses 2yo+ and handlers of all ages and skill levels, though this first series will be geared toward folks with some experience who realize there are gaps in their horsemanship. Note: we love all your horses but can't accommodate stallions at this time. Stallion owners may contact us to arrange private sessions at your facility.
If you want to be ready for new trail or competition challenges in the fall, come put in the time over the summer to learn!
