About this Event
Come learn all about the unique geology that surrounds the Preserve!
Join Bill Witherspoon, co-author of Roadside Geology of Georgia for another exciting Second Saturday Safari program. Learn in a brief presentation about the 375-mile long groove in the landscape in which the Preserve is nestled, along the Brevard Fault Zone. Be startled by the groovy greens, blues, and pinks in a microscope image from a rock collected next to the parking area. Then, take a walk at the south end of the preserve adjacent to an old mill dam, where pockets of mica known as buttons gleam from the bedrock.
In this fun walk and talk, participants will be able to:
- Explore Blue Heron's geological features
- Learn about the Brevard Fault Zone
- Ask questions to an expert
- And so much more!
