Join us for a modern and inclusive open discussion on living with our own and supporting other's grief journeys.
About this Event

Join us for an inclusive grief processing space to explore living with our own, and supporting other's journeys. This is not your "traditional" grief group. Open conversation and frank dialogue are encouraged.

Program leader Amanda Jones Stanforth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Triangle.

While she began her career working with children and families, her work has grown- becoming more rooted in working with adults and young adults in places of major life transition. She is a firm believer that things are rarely good or bad, and almost always exist within the "grey"; life can be both magnificent and terrible, and beautiful and painful. This has rarely been more true than it is in grief, and working with folks who are experiencing grief and navigating these seasons is a major piece of her practice. She has extensive training and practice in trauma, loss, depression and anxiety, as well as life transitions like the Sandwich Generation and caregiving. She owns a private practice in downtown Raleigh.

Program leader Susan Youngsteadt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor (LCSW-S) in the Triangle.

Susan has been working in clinical therapy since 2016, when she graduated from North Carolina State University with her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. She has experience working with adolescents, adults of all ages, and families. Her therapeutic style can be described as relational with accountability. At this time, she sees individuals ages 18+ for individual outpatient therapy, serving clients in the areas of grief, anxiety/depression, stress management, ADHD coaching, LGBTQ+, and more. Susan is a trained End-of-Life Doula and has personal and professional experience in grief and loss. This includes running a local grief group for young adults who have a dead parent/caregiver. In addition, Susan is an active member of the community, volunteering for a variety of organizations including Transitions Hospice and Meals on Wheels of Wake County.

Accessibility

Dix Park continues to strive to be accessible and welcoming for visitors, including those with disabilities. Accessibility is a primary focus for early park improvements and all future planning and development.

Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available in all lots.

Restrooms: Accessible temporary restrooms are located at the Big Field and Flowers Field. Indoor accessible restrooms are available at Gipson Play Plaza, under the Superintendent’s House at the Stone Houses and at the Chapel during hours of operation.
