Announcing our very first film event of 2025! Friday, January 3rd, we will be playing a special screening of Joe Dante's excellent 1984 horror-comedy-fantasy film, GREMLINS, at the historic Babcock Theatre for you to see (does it still count as a 40th anniversary if we're technically three days late? Sure!)! A real 80s classic that successfully mashes up just about every genre out there, GREMLINS is an incredibly imaginative creature feature with a delightful sense of humor that really holds up four decades later! With some really fantastic practical effects, gooey monsters, comedic chaos, and lots of holiday visuals (in case you're still chasing that Christmas high), GREMLINS is total blast that you don't want to miss seeing on the big screen!
When teen Billy Peltzer is gifted a strange creature known as a Mogwai for Christmas, he inadvertently breaks the three rules of safely keeping one, resulting in multiplying numbers and all but one of them mutating into in frightening, gruesome Gremlins! Escaping Billy's house, the batch of Gremlins run amok on his small town, and with the body count of civilians rising, it's up to Billy, his girlfriend, and Gizmo to destroy the Gremlins for good!
