Greg Johnson and the Local Edition Jazz Orchestra

The Local Edition Jazz Orchestra will present an evening of new works by Greg Johnson.

Dr. Greg Johnson is quickly becoming recognized as a luminary figure in the Jazz community. His distinctive saxophone sound has found its way into multiple genres of Jazz, Classical and Popular music. As a saxophonist, Greg has appeared in concert and on over 40 mainstream recordings with Jazz legends Curtis Fuller, Billy Taylor, Bob Mintzer and many more. He has toured with notable Pop and Rock musicians at some of the biggest venues and festivals.

With three recently released albums, Greg's big band and small group music has seen a rise in popularity over the past two years. He continues to perform his music around the world. A dynamic teacher of ensembles and improvisation, Greg has kept an active schedule as a clinician and guest composer/saxophonist, he is praised for his relatable, organic approach to music.

Greg has released seven recordings under his name and has contributed to dozens more. Recently, Greg was added to the 2020 GRAMMY ballot in six categories for his albums "Philosopher's Path" and "Visions of Kansas City."
