Newsmakers Mission: Strengthening Civic Health in Guilford County
Higher education plays a formative role in fostering civic engagement
and activating grassroots leadership. This forum spotlights higher education’s
critical place in teaching civic literacy – developing students to become engaged
community members and inspiring the next wave of leaders equipped to propel
the community forward. The discussion will convene community leaders to
address key questions including:
■ What is the role that higher education has traditionally played in civic
literacy and community engagement? What have we learned and what
must we do better to develop plugged-in students motivated to be part of
the fabric of Guilford County?
■ How must education institutions think differently in this changing climate
to develop students that are both prepared and motivated to be engaged
community members?
Where is it happening?
