Greening Portslade - Now in September!

Residents from across Portslade are invited to join local community organisations, environmental volunteers and neighbourhood groups for a special Portslade Labour Town Hall Public Meeting exploring how nature can make our community healthier, greener and more resilient.
Taking place on Saturday 12 September 2026, from 1.30pm–3.30pm at the Parish Centre, South Street, Portslade, Brighton BN41 2LE, the meeting will bring together some of the people already working to improve Portslade's parks, green spaces and community gardens.
The afternoon will feature short talks and discussion from local speakers, including:
• Richard Freedman – South Portslade Tree Planting Campaign
• Cllr Alan Robbins – Cabinet Member for Sports, Recreation and Libraries
• Karen Morley Freer – Mile Oak Medical Centre Community Garden
• Jenny Knox Friends of Easthill Park
• Liz Goodwin – Friends of Victoria Park
Additional local organisations and community representatives will also be taking part.
The event will explore the many ways that trees, parks, gardens and green spaces improve our neighbourhoods—from cleaner air and cooler streets to better mental health, biodiversity and stronger community connections. Residents will also have the opportunity to discuss practical ideas for protecting and enhancing Portslade's green spaces and to find out how they can become involved in local projects.
Unlike a traditional public meeting, the Town Hall format encourages open conversation between residents and local groups, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas, meet neighbours and help shape future community initiatives.
