About this Event

Join us for the return of the Greenford Quay Canal Festival – a vibrant, free-to-attend celebration bringing together incredible entertainment, street food, family activities and unforgettable experiences by the water.

As the grand finale of our Summer Series, the Canal Festival transforms Greenford Quay into a lively destination celebrating the unique heritage of London's canals and waterways. Expect live music across two stages, spectacular performances, family-friendly entertainment, canal adventures and delicious street food throughout the day.

Whether you're climbing aboard a historic canal boat, trying paddleboarding for the first time, taking in live performances or simply soaking up the atmosphere with friends and family, there's something for everyone to discover.

This August, we're inviting the whole community to celebrate everything that makes Greenford Quay special. From exciting waterside activities and live entertainment to independent food traders and creative workshops, the Canal Festival is the perfect way to round off another fantastic summer by the canal.

Throughout the day, you'll discover local organisations, talented performers and unique experiences inspired by life on the waterways, creating a welcoming event packed with entertainment for visitors of all ages

🍴 Street Food by T&T Markets

Get ready to explore a fantastic selection of independent street food traders serving up flavours from around the world. Curated by Trash & Treasure Markets, the Canal Festival will bring together an exciting mix of returning favourites and new traders, offering something for every taste.

Whether you're after a quick bite, a leisurely lunch or something sweet to enjoy by the water, you'll find plenty of vegan, vegetarian and Halal options across the market. Grab some food, find a spot by the canal and make the most of one of Greenford Quay's biggest community celebrations.

🎤 Live Music Across Two Stages

Enjoy a full day of live music as the Canal Festival comes alive with performances across two stages, curated by the fantastic team behind Hanwell Hootie.

From community choirs and emerging local artists to funk, soul, Americana and rock 'n' roll, there's something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. Grab some delicious street food, find a spot by the canal and enjoy an incredible soundtrack from midday through to the festival finale.

🛶 Paddleboarding on the Canal

See Greenford Quay from a whole new perspective with our free paddleboarding sessions, delivered by the London Paddleboard team.

Whether you're trying paddleboarding for the very first time or looking to get back on the water, these instructor-led sessions are a fantastic way to experience the canal during the festival. Spaces are limited and available on a first come, first served basis, so head to the London Paddleboard gazebo early to secure your place.

Session Times 12:30pm – 1:15pm , 1:45pm – 2:30pm, 3:30pm – 4:15pm, 4:45pm – 5:30pm

Participants will be asked to complete a waiver before taking part.

🎪 The Incredibly Clever Canine Circus

Think your dog could be the next star of the big top? Join us for The Incredibly Clever Canine Circus, a fun-filled interactive workshop where you and your four-legged friend can learn a host of circus-inspired tricks together!

Led by expert trainer, each session is packed with laughter, treats and plenty of tail wags as dogs of all ages and abilities discover new skills. From first-timers to enthusiastic learners, every pooch is welcome to join the fun – no previous training required.

Working together, you'll learn a series of simple tricks before bringing them all together for a mini circus performance to round off the session. Every participating dog will also receive a special take-home gift to remember their day at Greenford Quay.

  • 1:00pm – 2:00pm
  • 3:00pm – 4:00pm
  • 5:00pm – 6:00pm

Good to Know
  • Suitable for dogs of all experience levels – even those who "won't even sit!"
  • No previous training is needed.
  • Dogs remain on leads throughout the session.
  • Each workshop includes approximately 45 minutes of activities, followed by 15 minutes to meet our trainer and collect your participation gift.
  • Maximum of 8 dogs per session.
  • Children are welcome to accompany participating dogs.
  • All dogs should be comfortable around other dogs and people.
  • Unfortunately, prohibited breeds (Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and XL Bully) cannot take part.

🌿 Mini Succulent Workshop (12:30pm - 5:30pm)

Take home a little piece of Greenford Quay with our relaxing Mini Succulent Workshop.

Step aboard the historic Elsdale Boat and personalise your very own mini succulent pot using colourful Posca pens. Whether you choose bold patterns, nature-inspired designs or something completely unique, you'll create a living keepsake to brighten up your home long after Canal Festival has finished.

Perfect for adults, families and budding creatives, this free drop-in workshop is a chance to slow down, get creative and enjoy the unique setting of the canal. Our friendly workshop facilitator will be on hand throughout the day to provide inspiration and help bring your designs to life.

Once you've finished decorating, simply pot up your succulent and take it home to enjoy.

♻️ Reworked by the Water (12:30pm - 5:30pm)

Get creative, give old treasures a new lease of life and discover the joy of making something unique at Reworked by the Water.

Inspired by life along the Grand Union Canal, this colourful drop-in workshop celebrates creativity, sustainability and the art of reusing materials. Create your own jewellery, keyrings or keepsakes using reclaimed fabrics, buttons and textile offcuts, transforming everyday materials into one-of-a-kind handmade souvenirs from Canal Festival.

Alongside the workshop, the team will be running a Jewellery Repair Station, where you can bring along well-loved pieces in need of a little TLC. Whether it's a broken clasp, a loose fastening or a simple repair, their experts will do their best to help breathe new life into your favourite accessories.

You'll also be able to browse a charming Pop-Up Vintage Market, featuring a curated selection of repaired, restored and upcycled clothing, jewellery and accessories. It's the perfect opportunity to discover sustainable fashion, support a local West London maker and pick up something truly unique.

Whether you're crafting, repairing or simply browsing, Reworked by the Water is a wonderful way to celebrate the canal, creativity and conscious living.

🌸 Meet the Flower People

Keep an eye out for two of Canal Festival's most colourful visitors as The Flower People bloom across Greenford Quay!

These larger-than-life floral characters will be wandering the festival throughout the day, spreading smiles, posing for photographs and surprising visitors with playful interactions. Bursting with colour and personality, they're impossible to miss and are sure to brighten everyone's day.

Perfect for families, children and anyone who loves a great photo opportunity, The Flower People create unforgettable moments as they pop up around the festival, bringing extra energy and fun between the day's activities.

🪩 Hula Hoop Spectacular

Prepare to be amazed by an energetic display of circus skill and colourful entertainment!

Our Hula Hoop Performer will be bringing the festival to life with vibrant roaming performances throughout the day, combining dazzling tricks, impressive coordination and plenty of audience interaction. Using both standard and mini hula hoops, they'll create surprise pop-up performances around the site, delighting visitors wherever they appear.

From incredible spins to playful interactions and plenty of opportunities for photos, this lively walkabout act adds bursts of fun and excitement between the day's activities.

Giant Ferris Wheel

Take in spectacular views across Greenford Quay from our Giant Ferris Wheel.

Traditional Helter Skelter

Back by popular demand, the Traditional Helter Skelter returns to Greenford Quay after being a festival favourite in 2025.

A classic fairground attraction for all ages, climb to the top before enjoying the iconic spiral slide back down. With its colourful design and nostalgic charm, it's the perfect family activity and photo opportunity.

We're delighted to welcome back Jim & Tonic, serving their award-winning range of signature cocktails, sustainable spirits, draft beers, wines and soft drinks. Born from a converted vintage van and now distilled in their East London distillery, Jim & Tonic are passionate about producing exceptional drinks with sustainability at their heart.

🥂 Layla's Bistro
Get a taste of what's to come as Layla's Bistro brings their outdoor bar to the Canal Festival ahead of opening their brand-new neighbourhood bistro at Greenford Quay. Expect a fantastic selection of drinks and a warm welcome as they give visitors a preview of their exciting new venue.
