Jazz artists Nancy Newman and Miles Black have recently collaborated on a new collection of original songs.
The collection explores a wide range of human experiences and emotions, expressed through an equally diverse palette of styles, from intimate ballads and bossa novas to swinging grooves.
Before heading into the recording studio, Nancy and Miles are excited to present this special premiere performance, offering a first glimpse into their musical collaboration.
Vocalist, composer, and recording artist Nancy Newman is celebrated for her lush, expressive vocals and deeply heartfelt interpretations. With a voice that is both richly nuanced and powerfully emotive, Nancy brings each song to life as a personal story, captivating audiences and earning her a reputation as a truly original voice in the jazz world. Nancy's most recent album is Dream (2025). Palace of the Moon is her first collection of original songs, while You Never Know showcases her interpretations of jazz standards. Miles Black is widely recognized as one of Canada’s most accomplished and inspiring jazz pianists. In addition to his work at the piano, he is highly regarded as a composer, arranger, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, with credits spanning guitar, bass, saxophone, and voice. He is well known for his performances with the acclaimed Oliver Gannon Quartet, the Mike Allen Quartet, Triology, and Altered Laws. Miles Black has contributed to an extensive discography spanning decades, establishing him as one of Canada’s most prolific and in demand musicians.
Conrad Good is an award-winning bassist who began studying classical cello and double bass at a young age before going on to study jazz bass at McGill University. After several years performing on the jazz scenes in Montreal, London (Ontario), and Toronto, he returned to Vancouver, where he is an in-demand performer and recording artist.
Buff Allen is a Juno Award–winning drummer whose distinguished career has spanned decades. He has performed with an extraordinary roster of artists, including Ed Bickert, Hank Jones, Diana Krall, Kenny Wheeler, Mose Allison, Roger Whittaker, Johnny Hartman, Moe Koffman, Don Thompson, Sharon, Lois & Bram, and Oliver Gannon, earning a reputation as one of Canada’s most versatile and respected musicians.
