Green Drinks DC's July Happy Hour!

For July, we're headed to the heart of Shaw and a longtime Green Drinks favorite: Shaw's Tavern! An American tavern with Southern roots, Shaw's has anchored its corner of Florida Avenue since 2011 — in a brick building with more than a century of stories. Long before the tavern arrived, this address housed the Blue Bird Cafe and Tea Room in the 1920s and the Rainbow Market for decades after. Today it's exposed brick, warm wood, and one of DC's truest neighborhood gathering spots.

Getting there is easy: Shaw's Tavern is about a 5 minute walk from the Shaw-Howard University Metro station, and right at the crossroads of Shaw, LeDroit Park, and Bloomingdale if you're coming on foot or by bike.

Shaw's is a tavern in the fullest sense — the kind of place that hosts everything from trivia nights to piano evenings to drag brunch. In the heat of July, expect cold drinks, Southern-inspired comfort food, and plenty of room to mingle.
