Saturday march 22nd we follow up our success premiere with a special free show (and tell) about Gangster Music, and not any underworld tunes!! It’s Rebetika, the Greek 1920/30s music culture. It’s bouzouki and baglamas from the hash-dens, prisons, cabarets and brothels, the outlaw blues of Greece if you will.This session will be the lovers edition, where many of the songs we are playing have a romantic theme.
Thessaly Hifi will play rebetika and also if we are lucky explain (in Swedish) some of the of the lyrics to those of us who dont know Greek. With special guests: Georgios & Mats.
There will also be wine of some variety (not free) and maybe olives.
Thessaly Hifi are Anna Gavanas and Petros Gavanas: musicians and producers from Meerkat Recordings
Georgios Stassos and Mats Einarsson will play rebetika and laïko. Georgios and Mats have played rebetika and laïko since the 1980s and on.
