TOURNAMENT RULES
1. CERTIFICATION: This tournament is sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and as such is governed strictly by the rules and regulations of that organization.
2. ENTRY FEE: Early entry fee is $25.00 with breakdown as follows:
a) Lineage: $12.75
b) Prize Fund: $11.25
c) Expenses: $1.00
3. ELIGIBILITY: Female and must meet 1 of 2 bullets below.
*A current GBUSBC sanctioned bowler with a 12 game league average by the date of the tournament.
*A past GBUSBC bowler: defined as a bowler who has, in any previous season, established a 21 game average in a GBUSBC sanctioned league.
*If past member holds current USBC membership they will pay GBUSBC local dues.
*If past member does not hold current USBC membership they will pay USBC & GBUSBC local dues.
4. DIVISIONS: There are 3 divisions to the Women’s Tournament and 4 classes to the Senior’s Tournament:
Women’s Division
* Division A: 180 and over average
* Division B: 141 through 179 average
* Division C: 140 and under average
Seniors Division
* Class D: age 50-59 years
* Class C: age 60-69 years
* Class B: age 70-79 years
* Class A: age 80 years or old
5. MULTIPLE PARTICIPATION: You are allowed to bowl in all squads if you so desire, however you may cash only once in the singles handicap and once in the singles optional scratch events. In the optional doubles you may cash with as many different partners as you enter with. However, you can only cash once in the doubles handicap and once in the doubles scratch events with the same partner
6. HANDICAP: Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 230 for singles. 90% of the difference between the total of the bowler’s averages and 460 for doubles.
7. AVERAGES: Bowlers will use the first of the following that applies:
A: Highest 2024-2025 GBUSBC league average of 21 games or more
B: Highest 2024-2025 USBC league average of 21 games or more
C: Highest current GBUSBC league average of 12 games or more
D: If none of the above apply, an average will be assigned based on bowling ability and past years’ USBC averages
8. AVERAGE RERATE: Bowlers may be rerated at the discretion of the Tournament Director. Any rerating will occur prior to bowling. If a bowler chooses not to accept a rerate, they will be refunded any prepaid entry fees.
9. USBC RULES 319a, 319d, 319e and 319f: These rules are waived.
10. BOWLER RESPONSIBILITY: It is the responsibility of the bowler to verify the accuracy of the average they use. The use of a lower than true average shall disqualify any score which was based on the incorrect average and no correction will be made for the use of a higher than true average. Average corrections must be made before the completion of the first game of that series.
11. CHECK-IN TIME: Check in 30 minutes prior to the squad start time.
12. LATE ENTRIES: Day of tournament entries will be permitted as space allows up to 30 minutes prior to squad time, with a $5.00 late entry fee. We recommend early entry sign ups.
13. PRIZE FUND: The prize fund ratio will be 1:4 for each event and each division. Any added sponsor money will be divided among the 3 divisions based on the number of bowlers in each division, with no added sponsor money going to the optional events. In the event of a tie for any position, prize money will be combined and divided equally. In the event of a tie for first place, co-champions will be declared.
14. MISSED FRAMES: A bowler who misses 1 frame or more by not being present and ready to bowl when it is their turn shall not be credited with any pins for frames missed.
15. LANE BREAKDOWN: If there is a breakdown, tournament management reserves the right to move bowlers to another pair of lanes.
16. PROTESTS: The action of the Tournament Officials will be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with Rule 706. Protests must be made before Tournament awards are presented.
17. OPTIONAL SENIOR ENTRY: Any woman 50+ as of the day of participation who bowls in the GBUSBC Women’s Tournament may use her scores as an optional entry to the GBUSBC Senior Tournament. She will be required to pay the expense fee and prize fund fee for entry in this tournament.
