Calling all lake-minded individuals! Come join Great Salt Lake Hopeline for a night of immersive storytelling where we'll be sharing voicemails from the project, and offering you the a chance to leave your own story of hope for Great Salt Lake at our GSLHopeline phonebooth. Liquid courage for sharing your own story available at the bar.

About the project:
Great Salt Lake Hopeline is a community art project and interactive audio experience that invites callers to connect with Great Salt Lake by recording a voicemail story of hope, listen to the lake’s natural sounds, or hear messages left by fellow callers. By treating the lake as an active participant in the conversation, the project seeks to inspire reflection on our relationship with this vital and fragile ecosystem.

Participants can engage with Great Salt Lake Hopeline by calling (979) GSL-HOPE, or by visiting one of our upcycled, mobile GSL Hopeline Phone Booths, which will pop up at events across Salt Lake City through 2025. These phone booths, now brine-shrimp-pink, offer a physical space for engagement, where visitors can step inside, pick up the phone, and become part of the ongoing dialogue about Great Salt Lake.

This project is made possible by Wake the Great Salt Lake, a temporary public art project supported by the Salt Lake City Arts Council, Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, and Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Public Art Challenge. This installation will be featured in upcoming community events, including this activation at Fisher Brewing on March 24th. The team is also accepting invitations to bring the GSL Hopeline to other public-facing events.
