About this Event
This is the third year, Lee County, that we are participating in this citizen science event!
The (sponsored by UF/IFAS Extension Lee County) joins the organized by the Unversity of Georgia. This fun and valuable Citizen Science project allows people of all ages to participate in science. No experience needed. Just 15 minutes makes a difference.
Join a group. Count with your tribe. Or, spend some time alone with nature.
This is a great activity for families, classrooms, garden clubs — anyone who enjoys being outside and making a difference.
How to participate
Pollinators are crucial to our plants, especially those who produce fruits and seeds. During this event, everyone can join by observing a flowering plant and counting the pollinator you see in 15 minutes.
All you have to do is head over to any of the parks listed above, find a flowering plant, and watch for pollinators (like bees, butterflies, flies, wasps, moths and beetles etc.). Use our simple pollinator guide and count sheet to jot down what you see — then send in your results to GSEPC.org to be part of the official census!
