Grayson Capps

Grayson Capps is an Alabama-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose music blends folk, blues, Americana, Southern rock, and Gulf Coast storytelling into a sound that is unmistakably his own. Born in Opelika and raised in Brewton and Fairhope, Capps studied theater at Tulane University before immersing himself in the New Orleans music scene, where he played with the rootsy House Levelers and blues-rock band Stavin’ Chain. He emerged as a solo artist with his acclaimed 2005 album If You Knew My Mind, establishing himself as a powerful Southern storyteller with a gravelly voice and a gift for creating vivid, unforgettable characters. His music draws deeply from the Southern literary tradition, New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, and the folk and blues artists who influenced him, including Doc Watson and Jerry Jeff Walker.
