Afro Dead reimagines the music of the legendary American psychedelic band, The Grateful Dead in African styles such as Afrobeat, Soukous and High Life. The founder of the band, Aaron Feder, is also the founder of the Alma Afrobeat Ensemble (with 4 albums and several tours in Europe and the USA) and has played with musicians from the close family of the Dead, including Scott Law (guitarist for Phil Lesh), Peter Rowan (Grammy Award Winning founding member of Old and In the Way with Jerry Garcia), and Eric Krasno (Multi-Grammy Award Winning guitarist from Lettuce, Phil and Friends and more).
After the successful tour of Afro Dead in the USA with the singer April Pittman, with concerts in Chicago, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Michigan, in legendary venues such as the City Winery, Levitt Amp Pavillion and the Historic Ironwood Theater, the musical collective Afro Dead returns to its homeland of Barcelona with April Pittman on vocals, Aaron Feder on guitar, JJ Oliva on keyboard, Eric Mills on bass, Tato Sassone on drums and Fran Guillén on percussion.
