One Eleven Heavy is the band formed by renowned "New Weird America" singer-songwriter James Toth AKA Wooden Wand (https://pitchfork.com/.../17489-blood-oaths-of-the-new.../) in 2016 with members of indie rock pioneers Royal Trux, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Steve Gunn Band and British psych rock gang Desmadrados Soldados de Ventura.
The debut One Eleven Heavy LP, Everything's Better, was released in 2018 on New Jersey label Kith & Kin (produced by Sparklehorse and Black Crowes engineer Jon Morand) and the band was declared to be at the forefront of the new "indie jam" scene alongside Ryley Walker, Garcia Peoples, Chris Forsyth, and Howlin' Rain by everyone from NPR to Alice Cooper (https://soundcloud.com/bbib/one-eleven-heavy-on-alice).
In late 2022, One Eleven Heavy released its third studio LP, Poolside, attracting comparisons to Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Bob Dylan & The Band, Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead and Santana, amongst others.
PRAISE FOR ONE ELEVEN HEAVY'S POOLSIDE:
“One Eleven Heavy’s Allman-Brothers-meets-Royal-Trux take on Cosmic American Music here transcends its initial barroom holler for something more mellow and ineffable, if no less intricate, with extraordinary guitar solos erupting from every hidden crevice…” MOJO ****
“On Poolside, you can hear shades of everything from Gram Parsons to Willie Nelson, from Michael Hurley to David Crosby, from The Allman Brothers to Santana, with nods to Led Zeppelin… This is cosmic American music, but one with a sense of distance and an international perspective.” UNCUT ****
“The epic ‘Fruit Loops’ is CSNY with the emphasis on Y, complete with ragged Neil-style guitar solo, before briefly alighting on that Graham Nash-fronted version of Supergrass you never knew you needed.” Shindig! ****
After multiple tours in the US (with the likes of Dylan bass player Rob Stoner, NYC's Garcia Peoples, and outlaw country songwriter Lee Clayton), the band is now coming to Europe for its first ever tour on this continent, including a stop at German festival of Americana, Static Roots.
The Barcelona show will be one of only a handful of Spanish dates. Expect extended, trippy jam wig-outs, rich vocal harmonies and, above all, great, affecting songs.
