About this Event
The Placer County Air Pollution Control District and South Placer Fire District implemented a pilot program that began fall 2025 to allow residential burning in Granite Bay on any declared burn day with unrestricted hours. This was in response to resident requests to expand residential burning to address wildfire risk.
Prior to the pilot program, Granite Bay residential burning was allowed only on declared burn days occurring on the 1st through 15th of each month, between 8 AM–5 PM (7 PM in May) since 2003. During the pilot program, Granite Bay residents are allowed to burn on days and times consistent with the rest of unincorporated Western Placer County, which does not have these restrictions. Residential burning of dry vegetation is allowed on declared burn days at single – or two-family homes – where smoke does not bother neighbors.
An initial town hall meeting was held in August 2025, and we are committed to receiving public feedback for the ongoing pilot program. Join us on March 18 at 5:30 p.m. to learn about the latest pilot program data and provide your feedback!
