The East Coast Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Youth Flight Program and Alpha Phi Alpha Brigadier General Charles McGee Youth STEM Scholarship Program are helping to improve those numbers. ✈️

The East Coast Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (ECCTAI) brings together, in a spirit of friendship and goodwill, all persons who share in the aspirations and successes of the men and women who pioneered in military aviation and in the Tuskegee Experience. We are dedicated to fostering recognition of and preserving the history of Black achievements in aviation, and to inspiring and motivating young men and women toward endeavors in aviation, aerospace, science, technology, engineering and mathematical careers.

Welcome Alpha Phi Alpha Brigadier General Charles McGee Youth STEM 501(C)3 Ooh la la!

The aim of the Alpha Phi Alpha #BrigadierGeneral #CharlesMcGee Youth #STEM #Scholarship is to increase the STEM pipeline for historically underserved and underrepresented American youth while continuing the legacy of the legendary fighter pilot and famed Tuskegee Airman who gave us the mantra, “perceive, prepare, perform and persevere.” In the past year, the 501(C)(3) supported KID Museum summer camp scholarships and HBCU college scholarships.

Facts:

ECCTAI is providing a lifeline with flight-training opportunities for underrepresented youth at a time when less than 3% of aircraft pilots and flight engineers are people of color, according to recent data from the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Impact of ECCTAI's programs: Since 1996, thanks to our Herbert H. Jones Jr. Youth in Aviation Program, more than 200 students have been introduced to aviation careers. In fact, some of them are now pilots, air traffic controllers and aircraft maintainers thriving in their field.Our scholarships program has awarded over $217,000 to deserving students.

ABOUT THE EAST COAST CHAPTER TUSKEGEE AIRMEN, INC.

Founded in 1973, the East Coast Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (ECCTAI) is the oldest and largest chapter of the renowned Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. ECCTAI has more than 150 members from diverse backgrounds, which include Tuskegee Airmen heritage-kindred descendants, active-duty and retired military, civil servants and private citizens from all walks of life. At one time, the chapter included more than 50 Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen, combat veterans of World War II who received their military training at Tuskegee, Alabama. ECCTAI provides educational scholarships to students and produces a Youth in Aviation Program that preserves the Tuskegee Airmen’s legacy and supports workforce development initiatives in underserved and underrepresented communities. ECCTAI’s geographical focus area is the District of Columbia and its surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia. The chapter is incorporated in Washington, D.C., and has its 501(C)3
