The Alliance for the Arts invites the community to celebrate the grand reopening of its updated campus and the opening of its latest exhibition, "I Ink, Therefore I Am."The "Refresh" renovation project has revitalized key areas of the William R. Frizzell Cultural Centre, including updated flooring, lighting, new drywall, fresh paint, bathroom enhancements, renovated classrooms and prep kitchen. The community is invited to see the results of these upgrades during the opening reception for "I Ink, Therefore I Am," an exhibition that celebrates ink artistry as a powerful and expressive art form.
"The transformation of the Alliance comes at a pivotal time in our history and a recommitment to our mission," said Jordan Jameson, Director of Operations for the Alliance for the Arts. "This refresh renovation was made possible by the vision and effort of many people, and we are thrilled to use this renewed space to continue leading and serving the arts community."
The opening reception and reveal will take place on October 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., offering an evening of art, live music, and complimentary hors d'oeuvres provided by Jayne and Brian Baker. The event is free and open to the public.
About the October Exhibitions
"I Ink, Therefore I Am" is an exhibition that will showcase the broad history of ink as a medium. The show call was open for local artists to submit a wide range of works, including tattoo photography, flash sheet designs, ink paintings, illustrations, sumi-e, scrimshaw, and apprenticeship and fake skin studies. Ink has a rich history that extends beyond traditional fine art. From penmanship and illustration to tattoos, this medium continuously evolves to tell new stories and reinforce past ones. In ink, you’ll find history, rebellion, and evolution. Coinciding with this exhibition, the Member Gallery will feature "In Black & White," a show highlighting the visual dynamics of black and white in any medium. Both exhibitions will be on display until November 1, 2025.
Show Your Support
In a show of community support and fundraising, the Alliance for the Arts is offering a unique opportunity for businesses and patrons to "tattoo" a wall (no needles required!). For a donation of $50, a space on the "Leave Your Mark Wall" can be purchased. A business logo or name will be displayed throughout the month of October, putting the brand in front of thousands of visitors while directly supporting the arts.
The Alliance extends its sincere thanks to the Frizzell Family, Allegretti Foundation, the United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades, Larry Decker, Dylan Jameson, Ava and Mike Roeder, Carolyn Gora, Patricia Loverock, SWFL Grind & Polish, Florida Walls and Ceilings, Global Restaurant Superstore and all of our supporters for making these upgrades possible.
The Alliance for the Arts is celebrating 50 years as a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to transforming lives and improving the community through the arts in Southwest Florida. While gallery admission is free, a $5 suggested donation helps keep Alliance programming affordable and accessible to all.
