Acrobats soar through the air, dancers move with joyful intensity, and musicians fill the stage with the pulse of Afro-Colombian percussion and the soaring sound of Balkan brass. BARKA is a 75-minute multidisciplinary spectacle where circus artistry, live music, and dance intertwine in a celebration of life and resilience.
Created by Girovago — the team behind Montreal’s acclaimed Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra — the production places the audience aboard a metaphorical boat, journeying together through storms and celebrations. Guided by a narrator and fueled by infectious rhythms, the performance becomes both a feast for the senses and a parable about unity, freedom, and hope. Critics have called BARKA “fusion forward” and “a cause for celebration,” praising its delirious energy and kaleidoscopic blend of sound, sight, and movement.
