Grand Finale with Yemi Oyediran and Premiere of Kiriji at Seasongood Pavilion

Tonight is the world premiere of Kiriji, about a gathering in music and story: a celebration of life, ancestors, and community. It tells the history and lessons of a story from Yemi Oyediran's hometown in Nigeria, and its message about the power of coming together. He wrote the music and the story. The program tonight features six original jazz compositions alongside modern works weaving hip hop, Nigerian jùjú, 1970s Afrobeat, and contemporary Afrobeats. The evening willl be extraordinary.
