5K Fun (Family) Run/Walk - October 12 - Washington DC: Join us for a chance to win a 2024 TOYOTA Corolla (LOTTERY DRAWING)!Whether you cross the finish line first or last, all registered participants will be entered into a lottery drawing on event day (October 12). The LUCKY WINNER of the 2024 Toyota Corolla will be announced that same morning.
We are thrilled to announce that Derartu Tulu, along with world record holders Gudaf Tsegay and Tigist Assefa, and Olympic gold medalist Million Wolde, will be joining us this year.
This event is organized to bring the community together through a fun 5K run/walk open to all family members. We have a 5K run/walk/jog for adults and a 1K run/walk/jog for kids. Come join us for a day of fun, celebration, and community spirit!

WHEN IS THE EVENT?
The event will take place on the 12th of October 2024. It starts at 9:00am and concludes before noon.

The event starts and finishes at 1100 Main Line Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22301.
HOW CAN I REGISTER?
To register, you will go to www.africanrun.com. When you finish registering, you will receive a confirmation email with a bar code ticket. Please bring that ticket with your photo ID to collect your event package. Your event package includes a T-shirt, a race bib, water bottle, and other event materials. The package can be picked up on Thursday (October 10) and Friday (October 11) before the event. The package pick-up locations are: (1) in Maryland at Veterans Plaza (1 Veterans Pl, Silver Spring, MD 20910) and (2) in Virginia at Alexandria Toyota (3750 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305).
WHAT CHARITY DO YOU SUPPORT?
Every year a charity that focuses on children wellbeing receives the proceeds from the event. This year, the proceeds will go to Wegene Charity Organization.
