What's the purpose of the event?For this year, we have #ActOfGrace as our hashtag. #ActOfGrace is in the spirit of community, service and giving - the characteristics that Grace embodied.
Please join PAA (Pilipinx American Alliance) and PAAC (Pilipino American Alumni at Cal) as we celebrate the life of Grace Rualo Asuncion, a beloved sister, daughter, and friend. Grace Rualo Asuncion serves as an integral part of our community. It is important that we preserve HERstory and allow her legacy to live on through us.
Grace Rualo Asuncion's 50th birthday is on October 5, 2021 but we will be holding a memorial for her on October 3, 2021 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. by her bench located between Zellerbach Hall and the Alumni House (Lower Sproul). The event will be in-person but will also be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook. We will be strictly following COVID protocols (social distancing, wearing a mask throughout the event, etc). We encourage everyone who will attend to be fully vaccinated and/or have a negative covid test result.

We also dedicate a scholarship in Grace’s name for all undergraduate students at Cal who are in financial need and who exhibit the same qualities of leadership. The scholarship recipient(s) will be awarded at the end of the event and the awardee will spearhead a social media campaign in the spring semester to spread awareness of Grace's story.
Alumni and student sponsorship donations are welcome. Your donation will encourage more students to apply for the Grace Leadership Scholarship, but more importantly, it will encourage students to learn about Grace’s memory and her overall impact to the community. As a thank you for your donation, we will send you a book written by a Cal Pinay Alum. The title of the book is "Groovy Girl" by I.B Casey Cui. To receive a book, you need to donate a minimum of $75.
