GRACE: EDH PLAYLIST
Advertisement
Hey Houston Soul Family!
I'm excited to share this new playlist with you. As the name suggests, Grace is inspired by those moments in life when we receive grace, especially when it comes unexpectedly.
Sometimes we ask life for something we really want or need, but for a while it doesn't seem to respond. We try harder, we find new ways of asking, we insist, we push, and eventually we burn out.
We start wondering if life is actually against us.
And then, something unexpected happens.
An opportunity appears out of nowhere. Someone shows up that reminds us of what matters. We receive what we've been waiting for, often in a way we couldn't have planned or imagined.
After all the worrying and self-doubt, we finally relax. We return to trust. We start seeing the magic that was perhaps right in front of us all along, but we were too busy trying to make things happen to notice it.
Are you familiar with that feeling?
That's the feeling I wanted to explore with this dance.
My wish is that this dance brings some hope, clarity, aliveness, and a little magic back into your life. And that it reminds you that your dreams and desires are worthy, that you are loved and supported, and that you don't always have to push so hard.
So I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens when we all come together for this one.
Come dance, feel, and embrace what is.
See you on the dance floor.
Your brother,
Yanal
🌀 DANCER AGREEMENTS
In Ecstatic Dance Houston, this is how we agree to play together:
SOBER EVENT
This is a substance-free space. Let the dance be your conscious-altering experience.
BAREFOOT DANCE
Shoes stay off the dance floor. Socks are welcome.
REMOVE JEWELRY
Please remove watches, rings, necklaces, earrings, or anything else that could hurt you or another dancer.
NO PHOTOS / VIDEOS
Put your devices away and give yourself permission to be completely immersed in the experience.
NON-VERBAL SPACE
The dance floor is a non-verbal space. Sounds are welcome, such as cries, laughter, singing, animal sounds, and whatever else wants to come through. Please take conversations off the dance floor.
PARTNER DANCE WITH CONSENT
If you'd like to dance with someone, first perceive and receive their eye contact, then navigate the connection nonverbally. This may include mimicking, touching, step dancing, or simply moving together.
Two helpful hand gestures:
Palms up 🤲 = I'm receptive to dancing together.
Palms touching in front of you 🙏 = I'd like to finish / I'm declining the dance.
JUDGMENT-FREE
Release judgment of yourself and others. Everyone gets to move in their own way.
ENJOY YOURSELF. HAVE FUN.
There is no right way to dance 💙
LOCATION & PARKING
Entrance is on the Hamilton St. side of the building. Lot and street parking are available. As a courtesy to our neighbors, please avoid parking in front of the houses directly across from The Interchange entrance.
