OUR SPEAKER:

Our friend is an internationally celebrated author, professional speaker, futurist, leadership theorist-practitioner, and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles.

Nick has authored books and articles on a wide range of topics. A Cambridge-educated medical scientist and philosopher, Nick has spent three decades cracking the code of transformation (whether in the form of disruptive innovation, systemic change, or transformative leadership) while serving the purpose-led growth of ambitious organizations like Virgin, Genentech, and Microsoft, writing and hosting network TV shows, and walking the talk as a 10x purpose-driven entrepreneur.

We connected with Nick on many topics, but chiefly through , which advocates for rituals of passage and meaning making across traditional differences (political, religious, ethnic, etc.).

Tonight we will discuss Nick's relationship with "The Dark," solitary retreats alone in total darkness, designed with and guided by transformative facilitators and somatic therapists to cultivate much-needed wisdom, wholeness, aliveness, and fearlessness.

What can such isolation, alone with our mind’s terrors and traumas, teach us about the human experience and what each of us, individually or collectively, might best do with our time in the world?

How can isolation reignite our sense of connection and interdependence with the wider world?

How can complete darkness bring us closer to penetrating insight and even enlightenment?

Can darkness journeys unlock the responsible AI and regenerative tech that is so urgent right now?

And could such experiences cultivate the depth and breadth of character needed to help lead humanity out of ?

We look forward to discussing this with all of you on October 1st at Jeremy's Loft in San Francisco.

OUR CHEF:

Chris Ratcliff is a private chef and Bay Area native who brings true Michelin credentials to his events. Chris grew up visiting farmers markets and foraging for mushrooms and huckleberries at his family's ranch in Mendocino. He possesses a deep-rooted passion for local, seasonal, farm-fresh ingredients. His menus, crafted for each event, reflect his diverse culinary experiences and unwavering dedication to sourcing the finest quality ingredients.

Since attending Tante Marie Cooking School in San Francisco, Chris honed his skills at Three Michelin Starred Quince and the world-renowned Astrid y Gaston in Peru. He held the position of Sous Chef at Cotogna here in SF and his final restaurant role was as Chef de Cuisine at Seven Hills before transitioning to a career as a private chef.

Chris and his wife live in the East Bay with their 2 children. When they are not visiting his wife’s home country of Peru for cultural and culinary inspiration, you will find Chris cooking up amazing meals and sharing his recipes with his clients and community.
