The ST. CECILIA MASS was written by Charles Gounod in homage to the patron saint of music. Written in 1855 and officially titled as 'Messe solennelle en l’honneur de Sainte-Cécilem', this exhilarating work is far from solemn.
Cantoris is excited to present the ST. CECILIA MASS in Act 1 and C.P.E. Bach's energetic MAGNIFICAT in Act 2, for the choir's first concert of 2024.
The Choir will be joined by four soloists; Caroline Burchell (soprano), Helene Page (alto), Herbert Zielinski (tenor), Mark Bobb (bass). We will also be supported by a string ensemble from The Queen’s Closet Musicians, and Jonathan Berkahn on piano as well as the harpsichord.
Musical Director - Thomas Nikora.
Please join us on Saturday 18 May, 7.30pm at St Peter's on Willis.
