About this Event
WHAT?
This course introduces painting techniques that produce an acrylic-like finish using gouache, offering a versatile and approachable medium for experimentation and illustrative expression. It also covers understanding of this medium through the exploration of colour mixing chart and colour theory. Participants will be guided on the process of painting where they can create painting journals from their holiday trips.
Pictures shown are for illustration purpose, and can be different from projects during this course.
Learning Outcome
- Equipped with materials knowledge by choosing the suitable materials, brushes and with a good mix of color blends
- Better grasp of colour theory, mixing, painting techniques and its application
- Better understanding of compositions
Session 1: Introduction on materials used, brushes used for painting techniques.
Exploring on Color Mixing Chart and Color Theory for blending, explore on different color blending techniques. Participants will create thumbnail paint sketches.
Session 2: Exploration of landscape 1 – Composition and blocking of colours
Exploration of landscape 1 – Blending, layering, texturing
Session 3: Exploration of landscape 2 – Composition and blocking of colours
Exploration of landscape 2 – Blending, layering, texturing
Session 4: Exploration of painting daily objects 1 (journal painting)
Session 5 :Exploration of daily objects 2 (journal painting)
Session 6-: Design of illustrative painting (patterns) using techniques covered earlier

COURSE FEE:
$320.00 per person
$64.00 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy
National Silver Academy
- NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above.
SkillsFuture Credit
- In addition to NSA subsidy, course fee may be offset by SkillsFuture Credit (SFC).
- All tickets purchased with the intent to use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the course fee will be subject to a non-refundable $10 administrative fee.

Log into your SkillsFuture Portal to confirm you have sufficient SkillsFuture Credit balance (Take note: $4K SkillsFuture Career Transition Credits CANNOT be used for Brahm Centre courses).

Step 2 (on Eventbrite Website): Securing your ticket.
On Eventbrite, search for the course you are interested in.

Step 3 (on Eventbrite Website): Select correct ticket type & complete registration.
Select the intended Ticket Type (either NSA+SkillsFuture or SkillsFuture) and complete your registration. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information about the course.
Save/Screenshot the confirmation. (you will use this in the following steps)
Step 4 (on Skillsfuture Website): Submit your SkillsFuture claim.
Go back to the SkillsFuture Portal to submit a claim under 'E-Services'.

Please submit your SkillsFuture credit claim 60 days BEFORE the course commencement, for it to be valid. Deadline to submit SFC Claim is one week prior to course commencement.
Step 5 (on Skillsfuture Website):
If your SFC submission was completed successfully, the status of your submission would reflect as "PENDING".
Your registration is confirmed after your SkillsFuture claim status reflect as "APPROVED".
*Should you choose to cancel your SFC claim before the start date, Brahm Centre reserves the right to impose a penalty fee for course withdrawal.
Notes:
- Course payments are non-refundable, non-transferable.
- There are NO make-ups if you miss any of the art course sessions.
- Missing a session does not disqualify you from taking part in the course - the trainer is not obligated to recap what was missed.
- Brahm Centre reserves the right to replan the course should the trainer be unable to conduct the class due to unforeseen circumstances.
- By purchasing a ticket you are consenting to the use of photos and/or videos taken during activities for records and promotional purposes.
Trainer Bio:
Tan Ching Ching holds a Master of Education(Arts), a specialist diploma in Arts Education from National Institution of Education, and a certificate in Western Art from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She conducted workshops using watercolour and received positive feedback on her classes. Creative and full of new ideas, attending her classes is always enjoyable and engaging. She also conducts other workshops such as Batik Painting, glass painting and pottery
