For two days only — the world’s only large-scale fiber art reimagining of the great green room from Goodnight Moon, with live storytelling by Impact Playback Theatre Ensemble, a community book drive, and post-show Q&A with the artists.Created entirely in yarn with the permission of HarperCollins Publishers and the blessing of Thacher Hurd (son of original illustrator Clement Hurd), this vivid, room-sized installation brings one of the most recognizable scenes in children’s literature to life.
Live, audience-inspired performances by Impact Playback Theatre Ensemble weave audience memories and stories into each show, making every performance unique.
Children’s Book Drive with Reach Out and Read Colorado — Bring new or gently used children’s books during performance times (Sept 26 & 27) to donate to local families through Reach Out and Read Colorado’s literacy programs. In the past year, Reach Out and Read Colorado provided over 280,000 new books to young children across the state during well-child visits — building a lifelong foundation for reading.
After each performance, stay for an informal Q&A with the artists to hear how the work was created and how community partnerships helped bring it to Boulder.
This event also launches the Dairy Arts Center’s inaugural Co-Production Program, the first in a new series of innovative collaborations designed to connect Boulder audiences with bold, original work from across Colorado.
Each performance is part of our One Story, Many Voices approach — showing how a single timeless tale can be experienced in different ways, through different perspectives, creating empathy and connection at a time when it’s needed most.
