Sheffield’s resident wonky-popskis Good News are set to release their debut album Small Forms via Bingo Records on September 13. Small Forms follows their 2023 debut EP Same As That, which earned the band a live session with Marc Riley & Gideon Coe (BBC 6 Music). Since then, their feisty clarinet, juicy bass jams, and cowbell-propelled rhythms have bounced around the North & London supporting Acid Klaus, The Bug Club, Kid Congo & The Pink Monkeybirds, and Wesley Gonzalez & Wild Garlic. The multi-lingual post-punk trio comprises vocalist, clarinetist, guitarist and percussionist Beth Aylward, drummer Erin Hoggard and bassist Dan Philpott. Catch them shouting obscenities in Russian at a venue near you as they tour in support of their LP.
For ears that like Delta 5, Beat Happening, and The Raincoats.
Jim E. Brown: Manchester's hottest up and coming poet and artist/activist Jim E. Brown was born in Manchester on September 10, 2001. He is an alcoholic and has several degenerative conditions.
Stuart Pearce: The Midlands' premier beat combo. Composite: dialectical materialism w/conventional instrumentation. An explosion of brash aggression and raw sounds, think of Mark E Smith on one of his best nights and you're somewhere near these guys.
Small Gauge - Post-punk quartet with appeal for fans of Wipers, Television and Young Marble Giants. Faces familiar from Autobodies and Whipping Post.
Tickets are £10 / £6 low income & available from Dice/See
