Your community newspaper brought to life.
Good Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers together, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.
Our goal is to provide insight into business, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.
Good Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Thank you to this month’s featured sponsor: Harris Construction Co. Inc.
Thank you to Kitchen and Vine for breakfast and Coastal Peaks for coffee!

FEATURED SPEAKERS

THE FUTURE OF DORM BUILDING
Cal Poly’s ambitious new housing project will bring 3,500 new beds to the campus, and the construction process is both literally and figuratively groundbreaking. If you blink, you may miss the progress on this herculean task, thanks to a unique construction application in building large-scale projects. Anthony Palazzo, will join us to share details from the construction site regarding the modular dorm technology and why it’s so exciting for Cal Poly, the CSU system and a vision of creative housing solutions for our community.
INCREASING YOUR TEAM'S CAPACITY
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is front of mind for many business professionals and is part of the Chamber’s focus on emerging technology and business tools. Miles Hischier, founder of Axon Labs, will share more about how you can implement AI tools, resources and strategies to jumpstart your business tasks, giving you more time for increased productivity or enhanced work-life balance.
STELLAR PUBLIC EDUCATION
Cuesta is an incredible resource for our community, focused on creating a bridge to professional success for current and future generations. Now they’re leveling up even more. Dr. Jill Stearns, President of Cuesta College, will join us onstage to share more about the exciting new Bachelor’s Pathway Program launching in the fall and about the College’s recent Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, one of only 14 in California.
SOAR SUCCESS STORY
The Chamber’s SLO Onboarding Assistance Resources Program, or SOAR, is a transformative program available to all Chamber members. SOAR assists relocating professionals and their families in making a successful transition to SLO, including support in their search for housing, childcare services, and personal and professional networking. Asieh Haghi, a SOAR participant-turned SLO Chamber member, will share about her custom cake business and how connections made through the SOAR program and her Chamber membership made it possible.
BETTER ROADS FOR ALL SLO COUNTY
Better Roads For All SLO County is a citizen-led initiative dedicated to improving the safety, reliability, and future of transportation across the county. If successful, this November ballot initiative will unlock our region’s access to hundreds of millions of dollars in state and federal transportation grant funding. Erik Justesen, the citizens group Fundraising Chair, will share more about the future of the ballot measure and what’s needed from the community to get this measure on the ballot.
HISTORICAL STUDENT PROTEST
In 1963, hundreds of students staged school walkouts in Birmingham, Alabama. This heroic act, bravely demonstrated by some of our youngest and most vulnerable citizens, ultimately led to President Kennedy’s support of civil rights legislation and an important chapter in the story of our nation. Cal Poly History Professor, Dr. Thanayi Cross Jackson, will dive into the important historical impact of school walkouts and share how it is taking shape today, both locally and nationally.
NEXUS SLO
Luis and Abbi are competitive ballroom dancers and instructors at Nexus SLO, where they teach Ballroom, West Coast Swing, Country Two Step and Country Swing. They will perform a passionate Rumba and Bolero mashup to Jamie Foxx’s “Fly Love,” inspired by their competitive routines.
