The Chicago Symphony Orchestra returns to Morton East High School’s historic Chodl Auditorium in a free community concert led by Colombian-American conductor and Chicago favorite Lina González-Granados. Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst opens the program with crystalline brilliance and cosmic, swirling energy, followed by the warm embrace of William Grant Still’s Mother and Child. Brahms’ Second Symphony, most notable for its “lullaby” theme, closes the program with triumphant brass and infectious jubilance. Please note: this event takes place at Chodl Auditorium at Morton East High School, 2423 S.
