Enjoy the meditative power of gong sounds, go within and connect with yourself. So what's it all about?
Everything you need to know about the Gong Within sound bath experience please read all of this section before booking
Sound baths are so called because participants are lying down, immersed in sound. The sounds wash over you, inducing a meditative, relaxed state (there is no water involved). The effect is difficult to describe, you really need to experience it to appreciate it's depths. If you're new to sound therapy it is important you read all of this information before booking.
I mainly use gongs, with some other instruments such as chimes, singing bowls, seed shakers, and perhaps even an occasional drum. The thing I love most about sound therapy is how inclusive it is; anyone can join, barring a few contra indications described below. Participants don’t need any special skills, you don't need to be good at anything or to look good in Lycra.
You won't be asked to do anything or be involved in group work. You simply need to come in, lie down, get comfortable and let the sounds work their magic. That’s all.
Sound therapy is accessible for most people; however there are a few contra indications. If you have a pacemaker you should not attend as the sound vibrations can affect its rhythm. Some people with tinnitus can find sound baths uncomfortable; it is wise to ensure you do not lie close to the gongs, however I have a regular participant with (mild) tinnitus who keeps returning and loves what she gets from sessions. Sound baths do not make tinnitus better or worse.
People who wear hearing aids might wish to remove them.
Be aware your body temperature can drop during a sound bath, so it is important you are wearing warm, comfortable clothing, ideally including socks. I carry spare roll mats & blankets for anyone who doesn’t have them or who forgets to bring one. However I recommend you bring your own as being comfortable is key to the quality of your experience and there may not be enough spares.
In terms of mobility, you need to be able to lie down & get up from the floor, however if you have mobility issues and a willing helper you are welcome to bring anything you need to be able to lie down or sit comfortably and safely. I have known people use a zero gravity chair or inflatable mattress.
If you prefer to sit up during sessions please make sure you are safe and able to relax. Please arrive in time to get yourself settled in.Be aware that late comers will not be able to join. Sound therapy is an immersive experience so when the session is underway it is important there are no disturbances. no one will be able to walk into the session once it has started so please arrive promptly.
The sessions last for approximately one hour and are suitable for all ages, except for young children. I have hosted sessions for all ages, from 13-83. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
So… ask yourself… what have you got to lose?
