Embroider a Goldwork Spider with multidisciplinary artist Charlotte Sigurdson
In this workshop, participants will receive an introduction to the art of goldwork embroidery, its history, and materials. Led by artist Charlotte Sigurdson, participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create a goldwork spider on an embroidery hoop in 3-4 hours. The finished piece can be hung as-is on the embroidery hoop, or sewn onto pillows, bags, jackets, etc. as a decorative patch.
All materials are provided and included in the cost of the workshop.
About the Artist:
Charlotte Sigurdson is a multidisciplinary artist from Winnipeg, Canada. She began her artistic career as a doll maker, creating bespoke dolls for children. Over time, her work has evolved away from toys, though dolls remain a source of inspiration. Charlotte now practices in a variety of mediums including oil paint, textiles, ceramics, wood and goldwork. Charlotte received a grant in 2024 to study goldwork at the Royal School of Needlework in the UK with renowned goldwork artist Tracy Franklin.
