ABOUT THE BOOK: George’s presentation is a visual journey through his career as an illustrator, exploring how a childhood spent in England led to a lifelong obsession with Los Angeles. Sharing the story behind his sun-soaked prints of popular landmarks, George reflects on how escapism shaped his artistic voice, and how his work continues to inspire others to dream. From his early sketches to the release of his new book showcasing years of work, this talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, the power of nostalgia, and how a deep connection to Los Angeles shaped his artistic identity.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: George Townley is an illustrator from England whose work is dedicated to capturing the architecture and atmosphere of Los Angeles. Growing up in Northern England, George used art as a way to escape grey surroundings, eventually finding inspiration during a study abroad experience in Southern California. Now based in London, he creates nostalgic, dreamlike illustrations that celebrate LA’s iconic landmarks and culture.
ABOUT THE CLUB: Founded in 1925, the Los Angeles Breakfast Club still thrives with food, friendship, and fun. Our meetings are held in our clubhouse, Friendship Auditorium, located at 3201 Riverside Drive, near the corner of Los Feliz Boulevard, in Griffith Park. Best described as a variety show, attendees enjoy a catered breakfast, silly songs, club traditions, and an interesting presentation from a guest speaker.
TICKETS: Sales on labreakfastclub.com close 48 hours before breakfast. Non-members are $35 and Members receive a 34% discount when logged into their Membership Portal.
Please arrive between 6:45 - 7:00 AM sharp! Doors close at 7:15 AM. Your admission includes a buffet breakfast, enjoyment of our 100-year-old club traditions, plus a special presentation from our Speaker of the Week!
