Golden Fleece Big Knit Meet-up
Greek Tragedy meets Community Craft-a-thon.
Knitters and crocheters assemble!
We'll be making a GOLDEN FLEECE together for a production of Medea.
Come and meet the team...
April, half the directors of Medea and a third of Red Rumpus.
Emma, Little Knits from the Woolly Crew
Liz another third of Red Rumpus and experienced host of woolly gatherings... and Tamsyn project designer and the other third of Red Rumpus.
If you're interested in taking part in the project, this is where we start. Come and grab some yarn and a pattern, find out how it's all going to fit together.
There will be coffee and biscuits and fun :)
WHEN: This summer, future meetup dates and venues tbc. Then work on it at your own pace at home. We need to have him finished for the end of September and the show is in October.
WHERE: First meetup is at the Unitarian Meeting House in the town centre. Near to Vue cinema and St Katherine's Garden.
St. Katherine’s Terrace, Northampton, NN1 2AX
More info on how to get there here: https://www.northamptonunitarians.org.uk/contact-us/how-to-find-us/
MATERIALS & PATTERNS: Supplied thanks to the Woolly Crew or you can use your own scraps up. He will be made of all sorts of fibres. We have some hooks and needles to loan as well if needed.
AGE: The show has some adult contect (murder, chaos, infidelity) that we may well discuss while we meet. But older teens 14+ are welcome to join in with that in mind.
SKILLS: You need to have some basic knit or crochet skills but this would be a great beginners project. We are a friendly bunch and are happy to support each other. And its for the stage (ie needs to look great at 10 meters away not up close!).
ACCESS: We will be working in a variety of spaces around Northampton, some of which are more accesible to wheelchairs than others. Most are cafes and will be ND friendly. Let us know what your access needs are and we will let you know if a space isn't going to be accesible.
The venue for the show is wheelchair accesible.
This voluntary project is led and the show directed by humans with chronic conditions, we'll do our very best to make it as inclusive as we can.
COST: FREE! thanks to generous support from venues like The Unitarian Church and Woolly Crew for sharing their yarn stash. This is a totally volunteer run project. If you're able to make a small contribution to help us with things like printing patterns that's wonderful but also not expected.
