Gold Star Family Day
About this Event
Gold Star Family Day 2026
Join the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs and the Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana for our annual Gold Star Family Day ceremony — a solemn and meaningful tribute honoring the families of Louisiana's fallen service members.
We invite Gold Star families, veterans, and the community to come together to remember, honor, and celebrate the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The ceremony will include the posting of colors, the national anthem, remarks from LDVA Secretary Charlton Meginley, Col (Ret), USAF, recognition of Gold Star families, a wreath presentation, a keynote speaker, and a bell ringing ceremony in honor of each fallen veteran whose name is spoken by a Gold Star family member.
Following the ceremony, all guests are invited to enjoy a free picnic lunch and fellowship.
