About this Event
Did you race Pinewood Derby cars as a kid? Does your dad still talk about how legendary his car was (even though his dad really built it)? Or maybe you never got the chance to join in on the fun? This is your shot at Pinewood Derby redemption but ROTARACT style!! Bring your competitive spirit, questionable engineering skills, and inner child — the track is calling.

Event Details
Location - ARD Canyon View Community Center - 471 Maidu Dr, Auburn, CA 95603
📅 Inspection/Impound Day - Friday, October 16 - 5:00–7:00pm
📍 Race Day!!! - Saturday, October 17 - 11:00-2:00pm
🎟️ Tickets: Racing & Tacos - Car kit + race entry + taco plate. Spectating & Tacos - Event entry + taco plate.
Where do I pick up my car kit?? TBD - we will send an email when they're ready for pick up in early September.
⚖️ Race Classes:
- Standard Class – Cars weighing 5.00 oz or less
- Outlaw Class – Cars 5.01 oz - 8.00 oz MAX
- Vintage Class - Cars must be built before 2000
🌮 Food & Drink:
- Taco, rice and bean plate
- Drinks sold separately, including beer & wine
👤 Ages:This event is geared toward adult participants (18+), but spectators of all ages are welcome!
Why We're Doing It
The Gold Country Derby isn’t just about fast cars and bragging rights—it’s about giving back. All proceeds from this event support local causes and community projects led by the Rotaract Club of the Confluence.
We’re a group of energetic professionals and service-minded locals committed to building a stronger Auburn region through fun, accessible events that bring people together while doing good.
Come for the nostalgia, stay for the mission—and maybe win a trophy while you're at it!
RULES
Car Specs (All Classes)
- Must be built from a pinewood derby kit block, wheels, and axles.
- Max length: 7 inches
- Max width: 2.75 inches
- Max height: 3 inches
- Gravity-powered only (no motors, springs, magnets, etc.).
- Dry lube only (graphite/Teflon).

FRIDAY 10/16 - Inspection & Impound Day
Info: Get your car inspected and registered ahead of race day!!! The more cars that register the day before, the smoother race day will go.
🕑: 11:00 AM - 02:00 PM
SATURDAY 10/17 - Race Day
Info: Final registration at 11 AM, racing starts around noon. Enjoy the taco bar, grab a beer, and soak up the community spirit as we race to crown the champion!
