Join us April 27th, 2024 for Going the Distance 2024!At 10:00 am on April 27th swimmers will take to the U of A West Pool for our annual 'Going the Distance' swim-a-thon to raise funds in support of the Steadward Bears Para Swim Program. This event provides us with an opportunity to interact in a fun and social environment, while also increasing community awareness of adaptive physical activity and para sport programming. Please join us on April 27th to cheer on our swimmers and to take part in a fun day filled with swimming, food, and music.
The Steadward Bears Para Swim program was started in 2013, and has steadily grown from 12 to over 35 swimmers who are active in the water one to four times per week! Last year we raised just over $15,000 towards the Steadward Bears Para Swim Program, and our goal is to raise $20,000 for 2024.
Interested in being involved? Here's how!
1) Sign up as an individual or as a team to swim for an hour on April 27th. To sign-up, please fill out the google form linked here (https://forms.gle/UW83Ndmg7jhsmHH3A).
2) Donate! You can donate to an individual or team, or to the Steadward Bears Para-Swim team directly. For online donations, they can be made through our Going the Distance Crowdfunding Page linked here (https://crowdfunding.ualberta.ca/o/university-of-alberta/i/crowdfunding/s/gtd24).
When you make a donation to Going the Distance you are providing opportunities for our para swimmers to access para sport programs that foster a sense of community, while also promoting individual achievement, and providing opportunities for excellence. The funds raised this year from Going the Distance will be directed towards subsidizing pool costs, purchasing team gear and helping our athletes with travel expenses for competitions. With your contributions, we can make a difference in our community by keeping our program thriving.
