Play on Words and Canadian Memorial United church have partnered to present this colourful, queer-affirming adaptation of “Godspell” set at a drag queen story hour.In this interpretation of Stephen Schwartz’s hit musical, Jesus, Judas and John the Baptist come together with a group of their peers to plan and execute a drag queen story hour. They share
parables from the Book of Matthew, celebrating unity, community and inclusivity. From the composer of Wicked and Pippin, with an energetic pop/rock score including the international hit “Day By Day”, Godspell is certain to entertain and inspire all who experience its message of acceptance, hope and ‘love is love’.
Featuring Amanda Lourenco as John the Baptist, Maia Beresford as Judas, and Genesis, the
award-winning genderfluid drag performer as Jesus along side a group of disciples; Colton Babmer, Dakota Hutchins, Ivania Delgado, Jayka Mayne, Kara Mclachlan, Michael Neale, Paige Swain, Patrick Yukman, Rachel Scheibel, Raphael Tolentino, Regi Nevada , Sabrielle McCurdy Foreman, Simon Abraham.
Direction by Ryan Nuñez, Music Direction by Kate MacColl, and Choreography by Jacq Smith.
