MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! Finally, a class on how to make your own soap at home using the cold process soap making method. A step by step hands-on experience for beginners will be offered by Lisa Kennedy, an RN and owner of Old Weathered Barn Soap Company in Coarsegold. The event will be outdoors and during our community's Sierra Art Trails (Fresno Flats is hosting 3 artists; go to https://sierraarttrails.org for more info). So come on out, enjoy the class, and continue your weekend enjoying our community's amazing artists.COST:
- $125 for hands-on class (15 people maximum)

The hands-on class includes equipment and supplies including corded electric stick blender, scale, soap mold, soap cutter, pour bowl, mixing bowl, spatula, goggles, goats milk recipe, and ingredients for making soap.
YOU WILL LEARN:
1) How to create homemade goats milk soap from scratch using natural butters and oils that are free from harmful ingredients.
2) Calculations for how much soap you need to make to fill your mold, and create your own recipes by using Soap Calc Software.
3) Use of colors and fragrances to create a beautiful fragrant soap.
INGREDIENTS:
1) All equipment needed will be supplied (some you will be taking home with you) including all natural ingredients (goats milk, coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, shea butter depending on recipe) and Lye/Sodium hydroxide.
DESCRIPTION:
After taking this course you will have learned how to make beautiful, natural handmade soap from scratch, at home, using the ingredients of your choice. For this class, I will be sharing one of my basic recipes for the soaps demonstrated.
In addition, you will be taking home some basic equipment and supplies needed to make soap at home and the loaf of soap that you created during this class.

Q) Is this method of soap making suitable for children to do?
A) It is not recommended for children; the lye in Cold Process soap making is caustic.
