On Sunday, April 19th, our friends over at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish are hosting their highly-anticipated Equine Health Lab. If you’ve ever wanted to get "under the hood" and understand what’s really going on with your horse’s wellness, this is the place to be.What’s the Buzz?
The Equine Health Lab is a hands-on, educational day designed specifically for us horse owners. Pilchuck’s world-class vets take the mystery out of complex health topics. While the specific workshop lineup can vary, these labs typically dive into:
Hands-on Demos: Learning how to properly take vitals (heart rate, respiration, and gut sounds) so you know exactly what "normal" looks like for your horse.
Emergency Prep: What to do (and what not to do) while you’re waiting for the vet to arrive during a colic or injury scare.
Diagnostic Tools: A look at how they use things like ultrasound or digital X-rays to spot trouble before it sidelines your riding season.
Parasite Management: The latest on deworming schedules and fecal testing—because "one size fits all" doesn't work anymore!
Why 40 Something Cowgirls Should Go:
We love our trail rides and social hours, but being a "cowgirl" means being a top-notch caretaker, too. This lab is the perfect chance for us to gather as a group, sharpen our skills, and make sure our equine partners are feeling their absolute best as we head into the spring riding season. Plus, it’s always fun to see the amazing facility they have right in our backyard!
