GMI Malawi x Saunos Sauna Fundraiser

RCSI GMI Malawi are hosting two sauna sessions in Saunos Sauna (one hour each). Saunos is located a 10 minute walk from Sandycove & Glasthule dart station. There are three ice baths, a cold plunge pool, and a large sauna available on site! Sessions will last approx 50 minutes. See you there!

RCSI GMI Malawi are a group of passionate student leaders at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), working to establish RCSI’s first-ever student-led global health initiative. This work is supported by Ann Piercy, a native of Malawi and coordinator for HIV Ireland, in addition to global health experts Dr. Pittalis and Dr. Gajewski, who have experience leading groups such as SURG-Africa, COST-Africa, kidSURG and Akazi. Together we aim to support communities in Malawi while empowering students with ethical and immersive experiences in global health. We plan to send a group of RCSI group of students to Malawi to work closely with local hospitals, universities and community leaders. RCSI students will contribute to local health universities near Blantyre, Malawi, by helping Malawi students prepare for exams and exchanging medical knowledge. They will also assist operations at Billy Clinic and Mulibwanji Hospital by supporting clinical tasks, reducing staff workload and engaging in community outreach efforts. Students will also raise funds to support local medical needs, including medications such as HIV PreP, menstrual hygiene kits, nutritional supplements (e.g., oral rehydration solutions), and general hospital supplies.
