Join us at Wex Birmingham in-store on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th July as part of the Wex Summer Roadshows. From 10:00 – 16:00, Glyn Dewis will be on the shopfloor carrying out ad-hoc live lighting demonstrations in between the seminar programmes taking place on the day. These informal sessions are a great opportunity to see simple, effective portrait lighting techniques in action, ask questions, pick up practical tips and discover how to get more from minimal kit. You might even get a free portrait!

You don’t need a studio, expensive lighting or a van full of gear to create classic, timeless portraits. You just need to know what you’re doing with what you’ve got.
In this practical session, Glyn Dewis shows exactly how he creates his signature classic portraits using minimal kit in a limited space. From laying out the gear and setting up the light, through to working with a subject in front of the camera, this is a real-world demonstration with no shortcuts and no assumptions about budget or space.
The session covers the kit itself and why less is often more, how to set up and use light to create a clean, timeless look, and the often-overlooked skill of relaxing your subject in front of the camera.
Because the best lighting setup in the world won’t save a portrait if the person in it looks uncomfortable.
