Penang Philharmonic Chorus is excited to present - 'Gloria', an afternoon concert of choral works including Bob Chilcott's beautiful musical setting of 'Gloria' from the traditional liturgical mass. This work in 4 movements, is originally scored for chorus, brass ensemble, organ and percussion. With a strong rhythmic and dance-like character alternating with beautifully reflective and lyrical moments, lush contemporary harmonies and with an almost 'movie-soundtrack' character in its musical setting, make this work an instantly attractive musical treat for audiences.The work will be complemented by other shorter choral pieces, no less attractive and with a wide range of styles and genres, including a local choral work 'The Lost Voices' by the young and celebrated Malaysian composer, Yeo Chow Shern who pays homage to the spoken dialect and cultural traditions of his native Malacca and Penang.
