Global Underscore (London) 2026, 20.06.26

The Underscore is a long-form improvisation structure for dancing contact improvisation alongside other dance improvisational practice, developed by Nancy Stark Smith.

The Global Underscore (GUS) is a yearly event when the Underscore is practised simultaneously for a 4-hour period by people all over the world. At this London event, Colleen Bartley and Robert Anderson will facilitate the Underscore, with live mus from Anna Gillespie.

This event is aimed at people who have some previous experience of the Underscore. but if necessary there will opportunities for participants to learn about the practice before the event. We encourage people who do not have prior experience to book ahead, so that we can provide guidance if necessary.

For those familiar with the practice, there will be a short recap at the beginning of the session.
