About this Event

India Expert Lecture Series

Mumbai | Pune | Chennai | Bengaluru

Join us to discover cutting-edge science, meet leading researchers, and explore a unique opportunity to study science across India and Australia with the University of Melbourne and IISER Tirupati.

The Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati, is delighted to invite school principals, counsellors, prospective students and parents to a special Expert Lecture Series in India.

Bringing together academics from the University of Melbourne and IISER Tirupati, the event will offer students an opportunity to explore exciting developments at the frontiers of science, hear directly from leading researchers, and learn about a new international Global Scholars Program for studying science across India and Australia.

Featured Speakers

Professor Andy Martin

Professor of Physics
Associate Dean (Research)
Faculty of Science, University of Melbourne

Professor Martin has extensive experience in condensed matter physics and quantum optics. His recent research focuses on areas including ultra-cold quantum gases and quantum systems using nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centres in diamond. His internationally leading research has demonstrated new ways of studying and controlling quantum systems through physical rotation.

Dr. Thangavel Kanagasekaran

Associate Professor, Department of Physics
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati

Dr Kanagasekaran’s research focuses on organic optoelectronics, photonics and advanced semiconductor materials, exploring how organic materials can be used to develop next-generation electronic and optical technologies. He leads research into organic lasers, light-emitting transistors, organic solar cells and semiconductor-based sensors, with potential applications in renewable energy, communications and sensing technologies.
