Experience this once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Chicano and Chicana Letters and Visual Arts.
Literary legend Dagoberto Gilb returns to Houston for Nuestra Palabra's Global Reading Series brought to you by the Brown Foundation. NP is proud to launch two new books by this icon: New Testaments: Stories & A Passing West: Essays From the Borderlands.
The evening is hosted by NP founder Professor Tony Diaz, El Librotraficante.
They are joined by Texas Poet Laureate ire' ne lara silva who will read selections from Gilb's new work.
Special Guest:
Chicano visual artist Cesar Martinez is one of America's most imporant painters. His works are collected at The Cheech, The Musuem of Fine Arts Houston, MOMA, and he is 100% Community. He created images for Gilb's new book A Passing West: Essays From the Borderlands. NP commissioned him to create a special limited run print based on those works in the book which you can purchase exclusviely from NP.
Make signed copies of Gilb's two new books and Martinez's print part of your family library, public library, or underground library. Proceeds benefit Nuestra Palabra.
The evening will feature these intelletual and artistic giants, lite bites, sprits, a visual arts exhibit, and sounds by DJ Rodrigo Bravo Jr.
