Glassblowing Workshop: Introduction to Bowls
Advertisement
Students will have the opportunity to make their own one-of-a-kind glass bowl, perfect for popcorn, ice cream, and cereal… or keys!
Students will receive an orientation to the Glassworks Studio, and safety information. Next, they will learn about basic tools used for hot glass sculpting and glassblowing, and watch a demonstration. Each student will then work with a skilled instructor to design, inflate, and shape a unique bowl. Working with hot glass requires teamwork. Students will learn how to be a good assistant, and help each other throughout the process.
Finished pieces will need to cool slowly overnight before they are ready to take home. Students may pick up their work the afternoon following class at the Waterfall Arts reception desk on the main floor outside the Gallery. Arrangements can be made to have pieces shipped for an additional fee.
No previous experience working with hot glass is needed!
More experienced students also welcome. This is an excellent opportunity to refine form, try a new shape or design, or to bring a friend who is new to glass and enjoy creating together.
Additional Information:
Brian Frus is an artist, designer, educator, tech, and gallerist who has specialized with glass for over 25 years. He enjoys projects creating custom and unique interior design, lighting, public art, awards, and sculpture. Professor Frus retired from academia in 2021 to become a Maine based artist and gallery owner, where he continues to create and educate about glass art.
